Eco Friendly Dishwasher Tips

Here are some tips

  1. If you have a Pre-1994 dishwasher then upgrading to an ENERGY STAR certified model can save you up to $30 a year in energy costs. ENERGY STAR dishwashers use less water than newer standard models.
  2. Avoid wasting water by pre-rinsing plates and dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. You only need to scape the food from the dishes. This simple practice can save hundreds of gallons of water a year.
  3. Wash only full loads of dishes. However, overloading the dishwasher is undesireable as it will lead to poor water circulation and unwashed dishes.
  4. Clean the dishwasher drains and filters frequently to maintain operational efficiency.
  5. Air dry your dishes.

Air Pollution Prevention Tips

Here are some ways to prevent Air Pollution

  1.  Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by leave your car at home two days a week (walk, bike, or take the bus or subway to work instead).
  2. When running errands, combine trips so that you are not using your car for single-purpose trips.
  3. Telecommute to work, consider “flexiplace” options.
  4. If purchasing a new vehicle, consider a fuel-smart or hybrid car – one that gets more miles to the gallon than your current vehicle, and match the vehicle to your needs. Do not buy a pickup truck if you only need to carry large items twice a year.
  5. Carpool with your co-workers, friends or neighbors.
  6. Use your car for multiple purpose trips such as errands.
